What makes Ireland a true treat for all who visit? Aside from the people, it's the rolling Cliffs of Moher, the Guinness, the hospitality... and so much more. CP Travel Ambassador Angie Wagner takes us to the Emerald Isles.

What specific cities and /or countries did you visit? Ireland: Waterford, Killarney, Dublin

What was your favorite memory from this trip? Hard to pick just one...seeing the artisans create Waterford Crystal was exceptional.

Top excursions and landmarks/sites to visit: Cliffs of Moher, Waterford Crystal, Jameson Whiskey Tour, Guinness Beer Tour, Trinity College to see the Long Hall (Harry Potter was filmed there).

Were there any standout restaurants or foodie must-haves on this trip? Guinness Beer, Irish coffee, Jameson Whiskey

How would you describe the people and culture of this destination? Any interesting cultural lessons? People were generous and welcoming. Cultural finds included learning about belief in fairies, fairy trees and remnants of circles made out of rocks, dirt and trees all over Ireland. Gaelic is the national language and was on every sign. Some people spoke Gaelic; the origin of Hurling, the national sport; Viking presence in ancient Ireland. Locally sourced wool items was very unique and special.

What is something people would be surprised to learn about this destination? How close Ireland actually is. It's only 5 hours or less of flight time from the East coast. Also, the climate is mild and cool most of the time - they don't get much snow. It's also incredible how may castles and monasteries there are-- they are everywhere. The Viking influence is also interesting to see.

Top 5 Tips and recommendations for this trip:

  • Use a Celtic Tour vs driving yourself around, you will see more.
  • Take time to visit a pub after dinner - they are everywhere.
  • Invest in dual voltage hair tools - converters didn't work, but needed for phone chargers.
  • Pay with Euros.
  • Dress in layers with at least one raincoat.

What makes this destination a must-see in your opinion? Apparently we all have a bit of the Irish in us - you feel instantly connected to this area and its people.
